WELCOME TO R.F. Chimney Sweep Services

ROB FOREMAN

Trained and certified by the
Guild of Master Chimney Sweeps.

R.F. – well, that’s me – Rob Foreman. Prior to starting my career as a chimney sweep, I had a very fulfilling 30-year career as a police officer with the Norfolk Constabulary. Retiring at a relatively young age gives retired police officers the opportunity to develop new skills and begin new challenges and as a result, R.F Chimney Sweep Services was established.

I am an accredited member of the Guild of Master Sweeps. This means that when you book a sweep with R.F. Chimney Sweep Services you receive a quality service from someone who has been thoroughly trained and assessed by experts in the field. Upon completion of each sweep, I am able to issue my customers with a recognised certificate from the Guild for your insurance purposes.

I hold valid liability insurance for your peace of mind.

I hope you find the additional information on my website useful. I look forward to hearing from you in due course.

Frequently Asked Questions

HOW OFTEN SHOULD I HAVE MY CHIMNEY SWEPT?
The following are recommendations and guidance for frequency of having your chimney swept. This may vary depending on the amount of use, type and condition of fuel and type of chimney.

Smokeless fuel: At least once a year
Wood: Quarterly when in use
Bituminous coal: Quarterly when in use
Oil: Once a year
Gas: Once a year
Thatched roofs: Twice a year

Why should I choOse a Guild Registered Chimney Sweep?
Guild sweeps undertake an extensive training and assessment process and are required to attend Continuous Professional Development ensuring the highest standards are maintained. Guild membership requires members to hold comprehensive Public Liability insurance and members are fully experienced and equipped to deal with all aspects of chimney sweeping. All members of the Guild are fully supported and have access to technical support helping to immediately resolve any customer problems should they arise. In the unlikely event your Guild sweep is unable help you, they should be able to recommend someone who can.
What should I do to prepare for the sweep’s visit?
A clear passage to the chimney and adequate space to work in is required. It is helpful to clear fire irons and baskets/buckets from the hearth and ornaments from the mantelpiece and clear and remove any fuel/ash/rubbish from the grate.
DOES IT MAKE A MESS?
It is important to me that I work to the highest standards which means I keep myself and my equipment clean and am respectful of clients’ homes. I follow best practices during the sweeping, covering floor surfaces to ensure that I leave your house as absolutely clean as is possible and all soot deposits are removed from the premises. There may, of course, be exceptions but this would be discussed with any client prior to any work carried out.
